Conformation

General Properties

Rebel is the dog who gathers a crowd just sitting in his crate at a show.   He is physically imposing - - heavy boned, with massive front and shoulders, beautiful head, and an open,  sweet, gentle, expression that draws bulldoggers, babies, and poodle people who wouldn’t ordinarily notice a dog like him.  He is playful, outgoing and sociable. In the ring, his attitude is calm and dignified, with a natural presence that draws the eye whether you like bulldogs or not.

He is clear, pure white, with no ticking.  He has a dense, slick, healthy coat and jet black pigment, with fully rimmed eyes and lips.  He is very clean, with a sculpted look.  He weighs 63 pounds.  He has a beautiful roll and strong rear movement; he comes in slightly in front.  From the side, his topline holds together beautifully when he moves.

 Head

Rebel has tremendous length of skull, with and exceptionally deep stop splitting the skull along its entire length.  His jaw is wide and well turned, with perfectly even teeth.  His eyes are round and almost black, set low and wide apart.  He has thick, clean chops framing the jaw, which buttons up perfectly, forming a beautiful inverted U when viewed from the front.  His cheeks are well rounded.  His neck is strong, clean and well arched.  He has an old-fashioned broken wrinkle.  His ears are very fine and set well along the line of the skull; they rosed perfectly without glue.

  Body

Rebel is a beautifully balanced dog, heavy-bone dog with an absolutely classic profile.  Every line flows, with nothing boxy or angular.  He has a smooth, flowing topline with a perfectly placed roach and a flawless tail set which continues the topline in an unbroken line.  His underline is just as good, with deep brisket and exceptional tuck up.  He is pear-shaped, with broad shoulders, well sprung rib and narrow loin.  His brisket is deep and proportionate viewed from the front or the side.  He has perfect, tight, well-knuckled up little feet and strong pasterns.  His rear is strong and appropriately angulated.

Health and Temperament

Rebel has no health complaints of any kind.  He has an excellent throat and wide open nostrils; his mouth is typically shut regardless of the weather, and you never hear him breathing.  His eyes are healthy, with no problems of any kind.  He has no allergies or skin problems.  He is a sound, active dog.

He is unflappable, steady and willing to please.  He is a natural charmer who likes every one he meets.  He has no interest in being top dog, but he is afraid of nothing.  He gets along well with dogs of both sexes, including dominant males, who don’t perceive a challenge from him.  He is outgoing and sociable, but calm and relaxed when left alone.  Dinner is the only thing that truly excites him.

Show Record

Rebel was Winners Dog at the Capitol Bulldog Club Specialty for four points, Reserve Winners Dog at the Bulldog Club of Maine Specialty show and finished at the Bulldog Club of New England Specialty with a five point major.  At the same show his get were awarded Best of Winners/Winners Bitch and Reserve Winners Dog.  He also won the Stud dog class.
