Conformation

General Attributes -  Eric was a powerful dog who was shown at 65 pounds.  He was a very strong and correct mover from a line of particularly strong movers.  He was a bright copper red with brilliant, clear white markings and a very thick coat.  His pigmentation was very black.

Head -  Eric had a massive, beautiful head with tremendous length of skull with great breadth and depth.  He had a deep stop of proper length, excellent lay back of the nose and skull, and nice turn up and width of jaw.  His ears were properly set and carried, but somewhat coarse.

Body -  Eric was a very short-backed, very heavy boned dog.  Like many short-backed dogs, his top line was flatter than ideal.  He had good rib, brisket and tuck up.  His tail was properly set and usually wagging.

Temperament -  Eric was straightforward, easygoing, and honest.  He was outgoing, affectionate, intelligent, and eager to please.  He was a confidant, dominant male toward other dogs.  He never looked for a fight .--  but if he was challenged, he would settle the top dog question by simply pinning the challenger until the grumbling stopped, all without so much as ever baring his own teeth.

Show Record

As a pup, Eric had one specialty match Best Puppy In Match, and placements in the LIBC/BCNJ Breeders Futurities. He had several large class wins at specialties, went best senior in sweeps at Bulldog Club of Connecticut, and finished with two four point majors. He was not campaigned as a special.

Breeding Background

Eric was from a litter of four; two finished and a third was pointed.  His sire was a multiple specialty winning dog who sired seven champions, with five specialty winners among them, including the bitch who went BOB at the 1993 Nationals.  His dam finished under Bob Hetherington with a four point major, and as a special regularly went BOB over male specials.  She produced two champions.

Eric was only bred twice.  He produced one champion and one pointed pup.  However, we see his head, coat, temperament, and his brilliant color and markings coming through strongly in grandchildren.  The heads from his line are distinctively large, with tremendous length of skull and excellent lay back.
