Conformation
General Properties - Cappy is a classic, exceptionally well-balanced dog who should weigh about 55 pounds at maturity. He is pictured at 8 months old and is exceptionally well-balanced, with a lovely roll, and strong, straight movement from the front and the rear. Like the males in his line for four generations, he is a calm, easy-going, sociable dog. He has a great deal of presence — a natural showman who gaits easily on a loose lead and then stacks himself squarely in front of the judge with his head up, his mouth shut, and a "here I am" look in his eye. He has an excellent throat and palate and wide-open nostrils. He is white with a small bright red patch above his tail and moderate red ticking. His coat is thick and glossy, and he has no allergies or skin problems.
Head - Cappy has a clean, well-proportioned brick-shaped head with a long, broad skull and a wide, jaw that buttons up perfectly with no teeth showing. He has good length to his jaw. His layback is excellent. His eyes are properly set and completely healthy, clear and almost black, with fully pigmented rims. His pigment is heavy and appeared early. He has small, fine ears which are properly set and perfectly rosed.
Body - Cappy is a well-proportioned dog with excellent shoulder and rib. He is medium backed, with a top line and a nicely arched, well muscled neck. He has an exceptionally strong rear. He has a real tail which is correctly set and wagging constantly; he has never has a tail problem of any kind. His feet are small, neat and very correct. He is a very clean dog with enough wrinkle, flews and dewlap to meet the standard – but nothing coarse or overdone.
Show Record
Cappy has won Best Puppy Dog at the BCA Div Match, and was Best Puppy in Regular Classes at 8 months under both Jim Dundas and Marilyn Dundas at the Eastern Dog Show weekend in Boston.
